Sukta 2
अपास्मत् तम उच्छतु नीलं पिशङ्गमुत लोहितं यत्। निर्दहनी या पृषातक्य१स्मिन् तां स्थाणावध्या सजामि
apā́smát táma ucchatu nílaṃ piśáṅgam utá lóhitaṃ yát | nirdahánī yā́ pṛṣā́takī́ asmín tā́ṃ sthāṇā́v adhyā́ sajāmi
Away from us let the darkness mount and vanish—what is blue, what is tawny, yea what is red. The consuming Pṛṣātakī, that burning-out power which is herein, her do I bind fast upon the stump.
Rishi: Traditionally associated with Atharvanic seers for AVŚ 14.2 (wedding hymn complex); specific r̥ṣi attribution varies by anukramaṇī tradition
Devata: Apotropaic power of the rite; Pṛṣātakī as personified remover; implicitly protective domestic deities
Chandas: Mixed/late Atharvanic wedding-prose cadence; often treated as Anuṣṭubh-like in recitation practice
{"primary_rasa":"bhayankara","secondary_rasa":"shanta","emotional_arc":"From threat (darkness/omens) to decisive pacification through binding.","listener_experience":"Immediate sense of clearing and boundary restoration.","intensity":6}
