Sukta 3
यथा यशश्चन्द्रमस्यादित्ये च नृचक्षसि । एवा मे वरणो मणिः कीर्तिं भूतिं नि यच्छतु तेजसा मा समुक्षतु यशसा समनक्तु मा
yáthā yáśaś candrámasy ādityé ca nṛcákṣasi | evā́ me varuṇó maṇíḥ kīrtíṃ bhūtíṃ ní yacchatu téjasā mā sáṃ ukṣatu yáśasā sáṃ anaktu mā
As glory is in the Moon, and in the Sun, in the man-beholding (sphere), so may the Varuṇa-amulet for me fasten firm fame and thriving; with splendour may it bedew me, with glory may it anoint me.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (maṇi-hymn seer as transmitted in Śaunaka; commonly treated as Atharvan/Angiras-type)
Devata: Varuṇa (as amulet-power and divine order), with yáśas/tejas as operative powers
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (with extended cadence due to refrain-like cola)
