yénendrā́ya samábharaḥ páyāṁsy uttaména bráhmaṇā jātavedaḥ | téna tvám agne ihá vardhayemáṁ sajātā́nāṁ śráiṣṭhyam ā́ dhehy enam ||
With that wherewith, O Jātavedas, thou didst gather for Indra the milky juices by the highest brahman,—with that, O Agni, here increase this man; among his peers set thou upon him pre-eminence.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (hymn attributed in the AV anukramaṇī to an Atharvan/Angiras-type seer; exact assignment depends on the anukramaṇī tradition consulted).
Devata: Agni Jātavedas (as installer of prosperity and rank); Indra appears as paradigmatic recipient of the earlier ‘pāyāṁsi’.
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (11-syllable pādas; AV practice often preserves RV-like meters in such invocations).
