But when purifying (the patient) stage by stage, one should perform the procedures progressively, each step following the one before. The prescribed preparation should be applied beneath the tongue, and likewise administered through a vehicle—namely, using the horse as the carrying medium.

It teaches a technical therapeutic rule: purification and treatment should be done sequentially (uttarottaram), and it specifies a method of administration—application beneath the tongue and delivery through a defined ‘vehicle/medium’ (vāhana/anupāna).
Beyond theology, it preserves practical medical-technical guidance—how to sequence cleansing regimens and how medicines are to be administered—showing the Purana’s coverage of applied sciences like Ayurveda.
By emphasizing viśuddhi (purification) done in an orderly manner, it aligns bodily cleansing with the broader dharmic ideal of disciplined, stepwise self-purification, supporting health as a foundation for sādhana and merit-bearing conduct.
