Sage Parāśara (narrating to Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Royal lineages and notable events in the dynasties (genealogical narration with exemplary episodes).
Teaching: Historical
Quality: authoritative
The verse uses physical “measure” to symbolize the restoration of balance—what is excessive is brought into proper proportion, reflecting the Purāṇic idea that order is maintained by regulated form.
Within the narrative style, Parāśara describes a decisive act that immediately alters outward form—an emblem of rule and corrective power that aligns beings with an acceptable, orderly state.
Even when Vishnu is not named in the line, the Purāṇa frames such episodes under Vishnu’s sovereign order: creation and society remain intelligible because all measures and transformations ultimately rest within the Supreme Reality that sustains dharma.
