FAQs

It exemplifies a common Purāṇic travel-narrative technique: recognition of a previously seen site (a riverbank hermitage), which helps anchor sacred geography in memorable, repeatable landmarks for later transmission and pilgrimage mapping.

The verse specifies only a tīra (“riverbank/shore”) and a kuṭī (“hermitage hut”) without naming a river or settlement; a precise modern identification is therefore not possible from this fragment alone.

Implicitly, the passage values attentive observation and respectful engagement with ascetic/heritage spaces (the hermitage by the river), supporting a cultural ethic of careful conduct in environmentally and socially sensitive sacred landscapes.
