Transliteration

śrīvarāha uvāca | evaṃ sā gaurināmnā tu kāraṇān mūrtim āgatā | sambabhūva yathā proktaṃ prajāpālāya pṛcchate | ṛṣiṇā mahatā pūrvaṃ tapasā bhāvitātmanā || 22.51 ||

Translation

Śrī Varāha sprach: So nahm sie—die unter dem Namen Gaurī bekannt ist—aufgrund einer ursächlichen Begebenheit leibliche Gestalt an und entstand genau so, wie zuvor dargelegt, als Antwort auf die Frage Prajāpālas, die einst ein großer ṛṣi gestellt hatte, dessen Selbst durch Askese (tapas) geläutert war.
