Narration of the Exemplum of the Pativratā

Devoted Wife

सोऽपि राजा महाभागः सर्वभूतहिते रतः ॥ धर्मात्मा च महात्मा च सत्यसन्धो महातपाः ॥

so 'pi rājā mahābhāgaḥ sarvabhūtahite rataḥ || dharmātmā ca mahātmā ca satyasandho mahātapāḥ ||

Auch jener König, o Begünstigter, war dem Wohl aller Wesen zugetan — von rechtschaffener Natur, großherzig, in der Wahrheit standhaft und von großer Askese (tapas).
