Varaha Purana 17.64 — Adhyaya 17, Shloka 64

King Prajāpāla’s Visit to Sage Mahātapā’s Hermitage and the Doctrinal Praise of Nārāyaṇa

FAQs

It reflects a standard Purāṇic cosmological theme: cyclical time culminating in pralaya (dissolution), using the paired categories of mūrta (manifest) and amūrta (unmanifest) that are widely attested across Sanskrit cosmological and philosophical literature.

No specific geographic or pilgrimage location is named in this verse; the focus is cosmological (devaloka and elemental processes) rather than topographical.

The verse primarily conveys a philosophical instruction rather than a prescriptive ethic: all conditioned domains—whether manifest or unmanifest—are subject to temporal culmination and dissolution (kālānta and laya), encouraging reflective awareness of impermanence within cyclical cosmology.
