Ritual Procedure for Śrāddha: Sequence, Eligibility, and Offerings to Ancestors

तस्मादभ्यर्चयेत् प्राप्तं श्राद्धकालेऽतिथिं बुधः । श्राद्धक्रियाफलं हन्ति द्विजेन्द्रापूजितोऽतिथिः ॥ १४.१९ ॥

tasmād abhyarcayet prāptaṃ śrāddhakāle 'tithiṃ budhaḥ | śrāddhakriyāphalaṃ hanti dvijendrāpūjito 'tithiḥ || 14.19 ||

Darum soll der Weise den Gast, der zur Zeit des Śrāddha eintrifft, gebührend ehren. Ein nicht geehrter Gast — zumal einer, der als der Vornehmste unter den Dvijas gilt — vernichtet die Frucht der Śrāddha-Handlung.
