Avadhuta Upanishad 10 — Verse 10

आपूर्यमाणम् अचलप्रतिष्ठं समुद्रमापः प्रविशन्ति यद्वत् । तद्वत्कामा यं प्रविशन्ति सर्वे स शान्तिमाप्नोति न कामकामी ॥१०॥

आपूर्यमाणम् । अचल-प्रतिष्ठम् । समुद्रम् । आपः । प्रविशन्ति । यद्वत् । तद्वत् । कामाः । यम् । प्रविशन्ति । सर्वे । सः । शान्तिम् । आप्नोति । न । काम-कामी ॥१०॥

āpūryamāṇam acalapratiṣṭhaṃ samudram āpaḥ praviśanti yadvat | tadvat kāmā yaṃ praviśanti sarve sa śāntim āpnoti na kāmakāmī ||10||

Wie die Wasser in den Ozean eingehen, der sich füllt und doch in seinem Grund unbewegt bleibt, so gehen alle Wünsche in ihn ein; er erlangt Frieden — nicht der, der nach Wünschen begehrt.

As waters enter the ocean, which is being filled yet remains unmoving in its foundation, so all desires enter him; he attains peace—not the one who desires desires.
