श्रीमार्कंडेय उवाच । आक्षिप्तस्ताडितो वापि यमुद्दिश्य त्यजेदसून् । स्त्रीजनो वा द्विजो वापि तस्य पापं तु तद्भवेत्
śrīmārkaṃḍeya uvāca | ākṣiptastāḍito vāpi yamuddiśya tyajedasūn | strījano vā dvijo vāpi tasya pāpaṃ tu tadbhavet
Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya sprach: „Selbst wenn einer beschimpft oder geschlagen wird: Gibt ein Mensch — sei es Frau oder Brāhmaṇa — das Leben auf, indem er den Angreifer im Sinn trägt, so fällt die Sünde dieses Todes auf den, der ihn verursachte.“
