Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 3

युगानां कुरुते राज्यं मनवश्च तथा परे । स्वायंभुवप्रभृतयो यथा शक्रास्तथा स्थिताः

yugānāṃ kurute rājyaṃ manavaśca tathā pare | svāyaṃbhuvaprabhṛtayo yathā śakrāstathā sthitāḥ

Durch die Zeitalter hindurch üben auch die Manus die Herrschaft aus, ebenso die anderen. Beginnend mit Svāyambhuva sind sie fest eingesetzt—so wie die Indras (Śakras) jeweils in ihrer eigenen Reihenfolge eingesetzt sind.
