Bhagavān (the Lord; deity speaking within the narrative)
Tirtha: Śaṅkha-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: Viprendra (addressed) / Śaṅkha (contextual beneficiary)
Scene: The Lord speaks with a boon-granting gesture, declaring the tīrtha’s future fame and its sin-destroying power from that day; a brāhmaṇa elder (viprendra) stands respectfully as witness.
Divine speech consecrates sacred space: a tīrtha’s sanctity and fame are grounded in God’s declaration and become a standing refuge for beings burdened by sin.
A tīrtha in Nāgarakhaṇḍa Adhyāya 11 that is formally named after a revered figure addressed as “viprendra,” and is declared a pāpanāśana for all.
No detailed procedure appears in this verse; it establishes the tīrtha’s ongoing efficacy “from today onward.”
