Type: kshetra
Listener: Śuka
Scene: Vyāsa begins instruction to Śuka, invoking an earlier episode: Nandin teaching in response to Agastya’s question. Visualize a ‘flashback’ within the discourse—Nandin near Śiva, Agastya listening.
Sacred knowledge is preserved through guru–śiṣya transmission; the coming teaching is presented as an authoritative Śaiva instruction.
The verse serves as a preface within Kedārakhaṇḍa; the broader context glorifies Kedāra/Kedārakṣetra and Śiva worship there.
No direct ritual is prescribed in this verse; it introduces the forthcoming doctrinal and devotional teaching.
