तस्मान्नात्मविदो निन्द्या आत्मैवाहं न चेतरः । कोऽयं कस्त्वं क्व चाहं वै कस्माच्छप्ता हि वै द्विजाः
tasmānnātmavido nindyā ātmaivāhaṃ na cetaraḥ | ko'yaṃ kastvaṃ kva cāhaṃ vai kasmācchaptā hi vai dvijāḥ
Darum sind die Kenner des Selbst nicht zu tadeln: Das Ātman allein bin ich—es gibt kein „Anderes“. Wer ist dieser? Wer bist du? Und wo bin ich? Aus welchem Grund, wahrlich, sind die Brāhmaṇas verflucht worden?
