Skanda Purana — Mahesvara Khanda, Shloka 19

वर्णिनां च तथा कालं तंदुलं मुखरोगिणाम्

varṇināṃ ca tathā kālaṃ taṃdulaṃ mukharogiṇām

Ebenso soll man den eingeweihten Schülern (varṇin) das kāla (den vorgeschriebenen Gegenstand bzw. das Maß) geben, und den an Mundkrankheiten Leidenden Reiskörner (taṇḍula).
