Skanda Purana — Mahesvara Khanda, Shloka 35
नवयोजनसाहस्रं मण्डलं सवितुः स्मृतम् । द्विगुणं सूर्यविस्तारान्मण्डलं शशिनः स्मृतम्
navayojanasāhasraṃ maṇḍalaṃ savituḥ smṛtam | dviguṇaṃ sūryavistārānmaṇḍalaṃ śaśinaḥ smṛtam
Man sagt, die Sonnenscheibe (maṇḍala) messe neuntausend Yojanas. Die Mondscheibe, so heißt es, sei doppelt so groß wie die Ausdehnung bzw. der Durchmesser der Sonne.
