Tirtha: Kāśī (implied as superior purifier)
Type: kshetra
Listener: null
Scene: A contemplative pilgrim hears a sage’s teaching: countless tīrthas are shown as river-fords in the distance, while Kāśī shines as a luminous kṣetra suggesting a higher, liberating purity.
Not all tīrthas bestow the same measure of purification; the text prepares the reader for the supreme greatness of a foremost tīrtha.
The passage is setting up the glorification of Prayāga, renowned as the Tīrtharāja (King of Tīrthas).
No specific rite is prescribed here; it speaks generally of tīrtha-based purification from sin.
