Narrator
Tirtha: Hanūmanteśvara-kṣetra (Revā bank)
Type: kshetra
Listener: King within frame (nṛpa)
Scene: A brāhmaṇa and King Śatabāhu sit near a shrine, emaciating through fasting; their posture is steady, hands in japa/mudrā, eyes inward; the atmosphere is austere, with the temple presence of Īśvara felt behind them.
Austerity joined with devotion—especially at a sanctified site—purifies intention and accelerates spiritual attainment.
The broader chapter context is Hanūmanteśvara in the Revā Khaṇḍa.
Anāśana (fasting) as a vrata, undertaken in devotion to Īśvara.
