Listener: the Devas (divaukasaḥ)
Scene: Brahmā in the celestial assembly declares a demon’s invulnerability; devas appear anxious, weapons lowered, the cosmos symbolically imperiled behind them.
Purāṇic dharma often turns on the ‘boon paradox’: power granted through cosmic law can only be countered through a higher, lawful remedy.
None; this is a doctrinal moment about invulnerability and cosmic constraints.
None; it explains the impossibility of the devas’ direct victory.
