Skanda Purana — Avanti Khanda, Shloka 23
देव्युवाच । नाहं ते दयिता देव नाहं ते वशवर्तिनी । अकृत्वाधश्व वै तासां मानं सुरसुपूजितम्
devyuvāca | nāhaṃ te dayitā deva nāhaṃ te vaśavartinī | akṛtvādhaśva vai tāsāṃ mānaṃ surasupūjitam
Die Göttin sprach: „O Gott, ich bin nicht deine Geliebte; ich stehe nicht unter deiner Gewalt—es sei denn, du erniedrigst zuvor ihre Ehre, die selbst von den Göttern hoch verehrt wird.“
