Transliteration

mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | kathayāmi yathāvṛttamitihāsaṃ purātanam | kathitaṃ pūrvato vṛddhaiḥ pāramparyeṇa bhārata

Translation

Mārkaṇḍeya sprach: „Ich will die uralte Begebenheit so berichten, wie sie sich zutrug, einst von den Ältesten in der Überlieferungslinie weitergegeben, o Bhārata.“
