बिभेत्यल्पश्रुताद्वेदो मामयं प्रतरिष्यति । इतिहासपुराणैश्च कृतोऽयं निश्चयः पुरा
bibhetyalpaśrutādvedo māmayaṃ pratariṣyati | itihāsapurāṇaiśca kṛto'yaṃ niścayaḥ purā
Der Veda scheut den, der nur wenig gehört hat, und denkt: „Dieser wird mich verdrehen und über mich hinausgehen.“ Darum wurde seit uralter Zeit durch Itihāsa und Purāṇa dieser feste Schluss begründet: Dem Veda soll man sich mit der Stütze heiliger Erzählungen und Überlieferung nähern.
