Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Significance: Promises Śiva-sāmyatā (likeness/union) through vast japa, reflecting the purāṇic ideal that sustained nāma/mantra practice culminates in grace and liberation.
Mantra: (implied) namaḥ śivāya / pañcākṣarī
Type: panchakshara
Role: liberating
It teaches that sustained mantra-japa, performed with reverence and purity, culminates in śiva-sāmya—likeness and intimate nearness to Lord Śiva—by His grace, which is a Shaiva Siddhanta way of expressing liberation through the Lord’s favor.
In the Vidyeśvara context, japa is a primary limb of Saguna Śiva-upāsanā (often alongside Liṅga-pūjā). Repetition of Śiva’s mantra disciplines the mind and directs devotion toward the Lord who is worshipped in the Liṅga as accessible, compassionate Pati.
The verse highlights high-count mantra-japa (five crores). Practically, this implies daily disciplined repetition—ideally with a rudrākṣa mālā, maintained purity, and steady contemplation of Śiva while reciting the pañcākṣarī (“Namaḥ Śivāya”) or an authorized Śiva-mantra.
