Threefold Nyāsa and the Procedure of Elemental Purification
ऋं ःं कपोलयोश्चैव ऌअं ॡं नासापुटद्वये । एमेमोष्ठद्वयोरोमौं दंतपंक्तिद्वयोः क्रमात् । अं जिह्वायामथो तालुन्यः प्रयोज्यो यथाक्रमम् । कवर्गं दक्षिणे हस्ते न्यसेत्पञ्चसु संधिषु
ṛṃ ḥṃ kapolayoścaiva ḷaṃ ḹṃ nāsāpuṭadvaye | ememoṣṭhadvayoromauṃ daṃtapaṃktidvayoḥ kramāt | aṃ jihvāyāmatho tālunyaḥ prayojyo yathākramam | kavargaṃ dakṣiṇe haste nyasetpañcasu saṃdhiṣu
Setze die Samen-Silben ‘ṛṃ’ und ‘ḥṃ’ auf die beiden Wangen; ‘ḷaṃ’ und ‘ḹṃ’ auf die beiden Nasenlöcher. Der Ordnung gemäß bringe ‘e’ und ‘me’ auf die beiden Lippen und ‘omauṃ’ auf die beiden Zahnreihen. Dann setze ‘aṃ’ auf die Zunge und die Silbe ‘yaḥ’ auf den Gaumen, wie vorgeschrieben. Danach installiere die Buchstabengruppe ‘ka’ an der rechten Hand, an ihren fünf Gelenken.

This verse teaches mantra-nyāsa: sanctifying the body as a temple of Pati (Śiva) by placing bīja-syllables on the senses and speech-organs, so the practitioner’s awareness becomes fit for Śiva-worship and liberation-oriented meditation.
Nyāsa is a preparatory limb of Saguna Śiva-upāsanā: before Linga-pūjā, the devotee installs Śiva’s mantra-power into the body, aligning breath, speech, and perception so worship becomes inwardly consecrated, not merely external.
It prescribes kara- and aṅga-nyāsa using bīja-syllables—placing specific sounds on cheeks, nostrils, lips, teeth, tongue, palate, and then the ka-varga on the right hand’s five joints—typically performed before japa (including Pañcākṣarī) and Linga-pūjā.
