शिष्यं शिरसि संताड्य सूत्रं देहे यथाक्रमम् । शांत्यतीतपदे सूत्रं लाञ्छयेन्मंत्रमुच्चरन्

Transliteration

śiṣyaṃ śirasi saṃtāḍya sūtraṃ dehe yathākramam | śāṃtyatītapade sūtraṃ lāñchayenmaṃtramuccaran

Translation

Nachdem der Lehrer den Schüler am Scheitel berührt (sanft beklopft) hat, soll er dann die heilige Schnur in der rechten Ordnung am Körper anlegen. Während er das Mantra spricht, soll er die Schnur an der Stelle namens „Śāntyatīta“—dem Stand jenseits der Befriedung—kennzeichnen und festigen; dies bedeutet, dass der Schüler durch Śivas Gnade die Fesseln überschreitet.
