समयाह्वय-संस्कारः — Rite of ‘Samayāhvaya’ and the Preparatory Layout

शिवशास्त्रोक्तमार्गेण कृत्वा प्राणस्य निर्गमम् । शिष्यदेहप्रवेशं च स्मृत्वा मंत्रांस्तु तर्पयेत्
śivaśāstroktamārgeṇa kṛtvā prāṇasya nirgamam | śiṣyadehapraveśaṃ ca smṛtvā maṃtrāṃstu tarpayet
Nachdem er gemäß dem in Śivas Schriften gelehrten Weg das Prāṇa, den Lebenshauch, austreten ließ und auch an dessen Eintritt in den Körper des Schülers gedachte, soll er sodann die Mantras durch rituelle Darbringungen (Tarpaṇa) sättigen und besänftigen.

Even when describing subtle yogic acts, the verse anchors the practice in devotion to Śiva through mantras—an expression of Saguna Śiva worship where mantra is treated as Śiva’s living presence and is ritually honored (tarpana).
It points to a Śaiva yogic contemplation of prāṇa’s exit and entry (a controlled prāṇic process) followed by mantra-tarpana—ritual satisfaction of the mantras through prescribed offerings as taught in Śiva-śāstra.
