It teaches that offense and hostility that provoke the Lord’s displeasure destroy the very supports of spiritual life—life-span, prosperity, right knowledge, and dharmic practice—showing that grace (anugraha) is essential for lasting auspiciousness.
In Linga-worship, outer ritual is meant to express inner reverence; if one acts in a way that invites Shiva’s displeasure, even elaborate worship or sacrifice becomes barren, because Saguna Shiva responds to bhāva (devotional disposition) and purity of conduct.
The takeaway is restraint and purification: pacify anger through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), maintain śaucā and satkriyā (right conduct), and perform worship with humility so that rites like yajña and daily pūjā bear fruit.
