शिवसंस्कार-दीक्षानिरूपणम् (Śivasaṃskāra and the Typology of Dīkṣā)
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a shrine narrative; doctrinal climax: when the guru is saṃtuṣṭa, pāpa is burned ‘in an instant’—a compact statement of anugraha’s supremacy over gradual expiation.
Significance: Positions guru-prasāda as the highest ‘pilgrimage fruit’: swift pāśa-kṣaya through pleasing the guru via purity of thought, word, and deed.
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It teaches Guru-tattva: when the Guru is pleased, karmic bondage (pāpa) is destroyed swiftly through grace, so the seeker must guard purity of thought, word, and deed to avoid guru-aparādha and progress toward Shiva-realization.
In Shaiva tradition, the Guru transmits right understanding and disciplined worship of Saguna Shiva (including Linga-pūjā and mantra). Pleasing the Guru stabilizes devotion and correct practice, making worship fruitful and removing obstacles born of past karma.
Practice daily guru-vandana (salutation), maintain restraint in speech, and do mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with humility—treating service to the Guru as a core sādhanā that prevents angering the preceptor.
