FAQs

It highlights how ego and insult at sacred rites become a form of pasha (bondage): when pride governs action, even a yajña turns into a cause of adharma and downfall, opposing the Shaiva ideal of humility before Pati (Shiva).

The Daksha-yajña narrative repeatedly shows that ritual power without devotion and reverence to Shiva (Saguna worship through Linga and bhakti) becomes hollow; disrespect toward Shiva’s place in dharma leads to spiritual and worldly collapse.

The takeaway is restraint of anger and cultivation of Shiva-bhakti through japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as an antidote to pride; the verse warns that ritual must be joined with inner purity, not hostility.
