Bāṇāsura’s Wrathful Command and the Onset of Battle at the Inner Palace

It highlights how adharma, driven by pāpa-buddhi (corrupt intention), seeks to overwhelm dharma through sheer force—yet in Shaiva understanding, such aggression is ultimately checked by the higher order upheld by Pati (Śiva) and by the steadfastness of the righteous.
Though the verse is a battle command, it reflects the Shaiva view that Saguna Śiva actively safeguards cosmic balance; devotion to Śiva (often centered on the Liṅga) is trust in that protective, order-establishing presence amid external and inner conflicts.
As a practical takeaway, one may steady the mind against fear and hostility by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and, where customary, applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a reminder of Śiva’s guardianship and the impermanence of violent impulses.
