पार्वतीजन्मवर्णनम् / Description of Pārvatī’s Birth
मेना स्पृहावती केषु न मे शंसति वस्तुषु । किंचिदिष्टं ह्रियापृच्छदनुवेलं सखी गिरिः
menā spṛhāvatī keṣu na me śaṃsati vastuṣu | kiṃcidiṣṭaṃ hriyāpṛcchadanuvelaṃ sakhī giriḥ
Menā, obgleich voller Sehnsucht, offenbarte mir nicht, wonach sie verlangte. Doch meine Freundin Girī fragte mich immer wieder, scheu und züchtig, nach allem, was ich mir wünschen könnte.
Pārvatī (narrated within Sūta’s discourse)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It highlights hrī (sacred modesty) and inner longing directed toward an auspicious goal—supporting the Purāṇic theme that worldly emotions become purifying when oriented toward Śiva and dharma.
Though not a direct ritual verse, it sits in the narrative leading to Pārvatī’s union with Saguna Śiva; the household’s restrained longing mirrors the devotee’s reverent approach to Śiva in form (Liṅga/Īśvara) with humility.
The takeaway is cultivating humility and steady intention; devotees may pair this mood with gentle japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as a modest, inward offering rather than a display.
