Description of Pārvatī’s Birth
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It shows that when the soul (symbolized by Pārvatī) becomes purified through devotion, humility, and steadfast tapas, the Lord (Pati—Śiva) is naturally pleased and grace arises as an increase of divine love, leading the aspirant toward union and liberation.
The verse highlights Saguna Śiva’s accessible, personal responsiveness—He is moved by sincere devotion. In Linga worship too, the devotee offers simple, pure substances and bhāva (inner feeling); the Lord accepts the essence of devotion and bestows satisfaction and grace.
It suggests cultivating inner purity and intimate bhakti: daily Śiva-pūjā with sincere offerings, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and meditative remembrance of Śiva with a heart made ‘fragrant’ by humility, restraint, and devotion.
