The verse expresses śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) in Śiva as Pati—the compassionate Lord who protects the helpless and makes His grace-effective by fulfilling His own divine word.
It addresses Śaṅkara directly in a personal, Saguna manner—showing that devotion to Śiva (often through Liṅga-upāsanā) culminates in seeking His prasāda (grace) and protection rather than merely worldly outcomes.
A practical takeaway is daily prayerful japa with surrender—especially the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—offered with bhakti, along with simple Śiva-pūjā (water/abhisheka) while mentally asking for Śiva’s prasannatā (grace).
