Suta Goswami

Tattva Level: pati

Shiva Form: Sadāśiva

Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse frames divine orchestration—Śiva impels the sage so that an intended divine purpose (śiva-hṛd-hetu) is fulfilled in the unfolding narrative at Devagiri/Candraśālā.

Significance: General: emphasizes īśvara-saṅkalpa (Lord’s will) guiding events; inspires śaraṇāgati (surrender) as a pilgrimage attitude rather than a site-specific phala.

FAQs

It emphasizes that events unfold by Śiva’s sovereign will (icchā-śakti): the sage’s movement is not random but guided to fulfill Śiva’s inner purpose, highlighting grace as the hidden driver of spiritual outcomes.

By portraying the Lord as an active guide who directs devotees and sages, the verse supports Saguna Śiva devotion—approaching Śiva as the personal Lord who orchestrates circumstances so His devotees can serve His intended leela, often expressed through Linga-centered worship and sacred narratives.

The practical takeaway is surrender (śaraṇāgati) and japa with intention—especially Panchākṣarī mantra japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—aligning one’s mind with Śiva’s will rather than personal ego-driven aims.
