उदु ष्य शरणे दिवो ज्योतिरयंस्त सूर्यः । अग्निर्न शुक्रः समिधान आहुतः ॥
Transliteration
úd u ṣyá śaraṇé divó jyótiḥ ayaṃsta sū́ryaḥ | agnír ná śukráḥ samidhāná ā́hutaḥ ||
Translation
Hinauf, in der bergenden Höhe des Himmels, hat Sūrya das Licht in Gang gesetzt; wie ein lichter Agni, durch die Opfergabe entzündet, lodert er — und weckt die sehende Flamme in unserer menschlichen Nacht.
