इषुर्न श्रिय इषुधेरसना गोषाः शतसा न रंहिः । अवीरे क्रतौ वि दविद्युतन्नोरा न मायुं चितयन्त धुनयः ॥

íṣur ná śríya iṣudhér asanā́ goṣā́ḥ śatasā́ ná raṃhíḥ | avī́re krátau ví davidyutat nórā ná māyúṃ citayanta dhúnayaḥ ||

Wie ein Pfeil zum Glanz, wie der Köcher zu seinem Vorrat, wie das Gewinnen von Rinderherden, wie die Schnelligkeit von Hunderten – so blitzte unser Vorsatz auf. Doch ohne den Helden im Entschluss achten die bebenden Mächte den Ruf nicht, noch erkennen sie das klagende Ringen.
