Sukta 1.25

Rishi: Vasiṣṭha Maitrāvaruṇi (traditional assignment for RV 1.25)
Devata: Varuṇa (Āditya; guardian of ṛta)
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (11-syllable pādas; standard for many Varuṇa hymns)

वि मृळीकाय ते मनो रथीरश्वं न संदितम् । गीर्भिर्वरुण सीमहि ॥

ví mṛ́ḷīkāya te máno rathī́r áśvaṃ ná sáṃditam | gīrbhír varuṇa sīmahi ||

Um deiner Gnade willen, o Varuṇa, spannen wir den Geist an – wie ein Wagenlenker das gut gefügte Pferd anspannt – und mit Hymnen (gírbhiḥ) rufen wir dich an, damit er sich im rechten Gefüge deiner Ṛta (Wahrheit und Ordnung) bewege.
