तांस्तुदृष्टवाहरिगणान् शरवृष्टिभिरर्दितान् ।।6.76.63।।अङ्गदंपृष्ठतःकृत्वाभ्रातृजंप्लवगेश्वरः ।भिदुद्राववेगेनसुग्रीवःकुम्भमाहवे ।।6.76.64।।शैलसानुचरंनागंवेगवानिवकेसरी ।
tāṃs tu dṛṣṭvā harigaṇān śaravṛṣṭibhir arditān ||6.76.63|| aṅgadaṃ pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtvā bhrātṛjaṃ plavageśvaraḥ | bhidudrāva vegena sugrīvaḥ kumbham āhave ||6.76.64|| śailasānucaraṃ nāgaṃ vegavān iva kesarī ||
(In der Zählung der Südrezension wird derselbe Sinn wiederholt:) Als Sugrīva die von Pfeilen bedrängten Vānara sah, sicherte er seinen Rücken, indem er Aṅgada, den Sohn seines Bruders, hinter sich stellte, und stürmte mit Geschwindigkeit auf Kumbha zu – wie ein flinker Löwe gegen einen Bergelefanten.
Seeing the Vanara army pained by the rain of arrows, Sugriva, the Lord of Vanaras having Angada in his rear, swiftly rushed and assailed Kumbhakarna's son just like a lion roaming in the mountains attacks elephants.
