The Awakening of Kumbhakarna

Sogar der Herr der Rākṣasas selbst, Paulastya, die Geißel der Götter, wurde im Kampf von Rāma, dessen Glanz der Sonne gleicht, freigelassen, obwohl er so gut wie tot war.
"Rakshasa king, scion of sage Paulastya, an enemy of Devatas, was let off from death by Rama who has the splendour of Sun."
Dharma in warfare includes restraint and honor: Rāma’s act of releasing a defeated foe reflects disciplined power rather than cruelty.
The speaker recalls an earlier duel where Rāma had Rāvaṇa at his mercy but did not kill him, underscoring Rāma’s superiority and self-control.
Rāma’s magnanimity (kṣamā/udāratā) and adherence to righteous conduct even in combat.
