The Slaying of Prahasta
जगृहुःपादपांश्चापिपुष्पितान्वानरर्षभाः ।।।।शिलाश्चविपुलादीर्घायोद्धुकामाःप्लवङ्गमाः ।
jagṛhuḥ pādapāṃś cāpi puṣpitān vānararṣabhāḥ | śilāś ca vipulā dīrghā yoddhukāmāḥ plavaṅgamāḥ ||
Die Besten der Vānara, kampfbegierig, ergriffen blühende Bäume; und die Plavaṅgamas, zum Kampf entschlossen, hoben auch gewaltige, lange Felsblöcke auf.
The Rakshasas rushing towards Vanaras seeking victory, seizing swords, javelins, double edged swords, pikes, mallets, maces, iron bars, spears and bows of different kinds shone brightly.
Protecting the righteous cause can demand resolute action; Dharma here is expressed as readiness to defend, not aggression for its own sake.
The Vanara fighters prepare for combat by taking up their characteristic weapons—trees and rocks.
Utsāha (energetic resolve) and sāhasa (boldness) among the Vanara leaders.
