The Ascent of Suvela and the First Full View of Laṅkā
ततोऽस्तमगमत्पूर्यःसन्ध्ययाप्रतिरञ्जितः ।।।।पूर्णचन्द्रप्रदीप्ताचक्षपासमभिवर्तते ।
tato 'stam agamat sūryaḥ sandhyayā pratirañjitaḥ |
pūrṇacandrapradīptā ca kṣapā samabhivartate ||6.38.18||
Dann ging die Sonne unter, vom Abendrot gerötet; und die Nacht trat heran, erleuchtet vom vollen Mond.
Thereafter the Sun had set in, and twilight reddened. Full moon started shining as night had set in.
Dharma is aligned with order (ṛta): the verse foregrounds cosmic rhythm—day yielding to night—reminding that human action unfolds within moral and temporal law.
As the forces stand poised near Laṅkā, evening arrives and night falls, setting the atmosphere for the next movements in the campaign.
