सागरप्रशमनम् / The Pacification of the Ocean and the Building of Nala’s Bridge

Da erhob sich Sāgara, der Herr des Ozeans, von selbst aus der Mitte des Meeres — wie die Sonne, die über den schneebedeckten Bergen des mächtigen Meru emporsteigt.
Then the Lord of the Ocean shining like the Vaidurya stone decked in pure gold as if blazing appeared along with serpents.
When dharma is forcefully but rightly asserted, even great powers respond. The appearance of Sāgara signals that cosmic authorities acknowledge righteous resolve and move toward a lawful settlement.
After Rāma’s severe threat, the Ocean-god manifests physically from the sea to address him.
Rāma’s steadfastness, which compels a just response; and Sāgara’s readiness to appear and negotiate rather than remain indifferent.
