Lakshmana’s Revival by the Herb-Mountain
सौम्य शीघ्रमितोगत्वाशैलमौषधिपर्वतम् ।।।।पूर्वंतुकथितोयोऽसौवीर जाम्बवताशुभ: ।दक्षिणेशिखरेजातामोषधिमानय ।।।।सवर्णकरणींनाम्नासावर्ण्यकरणींतथा ।सञ्जीवकरणींवीरसन्धानीं च महौषधीम् ।।।।सञ्जीवनार्धंवीरस्यलक्ष्मणस्यमहात्मनः ।
saumya śīghram ito gatvā śailam auṣadhiparvatam |
pūrvaṃ tu kathito yo 'sau vīra jāmbavatā śubhaḥ |
dakṣiṇe śikhare jātām oṣadhim ānaya |
savarṇakaraṇīṃ nāmnā sāvarṇyakaraṇīṃ tathā |
sañjīvakaraṇīṃ vīra sandhāniṃ ca mahauṣadhīm |
sañjīvanārthaṃ vīrasya lakṣmaṇasya mahātmanaḥ ||
O Sanftmütiger, eile von hier zum Berg der Heilkräuter — zu jenem glückverheißenden, von dem Jāmbavān dir zuvor sprach, o Tapferer. Bring vom südlichen Gipfel die dort wachsenden Kräuter: Savarṇakaraṇī, Sāvarṇyakaraṇī, Sañjīvakaraṇī und das große Heilkraut Sandhāni, damit der heldenhafte, großherzige Lakṣmaṇa wieder zum Leben erwache.
"O gentle Hanumantha! Going to that mountain of herbs about which Jambavan had earlier spoken to you, get the herbs from the southern peak of that great mountain. To make Lakshmana the great soul alive quickly go and get Savarankarani, Sarvakarani so also Sanjeevakarani and Sandhanakarani and come."
Dharma is life-protection through swift, competent service: when a righteous person’s life is at stake, delay becomes adharma; decisive action is required.
Suṣeṇa orders Hanumān to fetch specific life-restoring herbs from the southern peak of the herb-mountain previously indicated by Jāmbavān.
