सुन्दरकाण्डे अष्टपञ्चाशः सर्गः

हनुमद्वृत्तान्तकथनम्, सीताभिज्ञान-प्रदानम्, लङ्कादाह-वर्णनम्

स प्राकारमवप्लुत्य पश्यामि बहुपादपम्।अशोकवनिकामध्ये शिंशुपापादपो महान्।।।।तमारुह्य च पश्यामि काञ्चनं कदलीवनम्।

Transliteration

sa prākāram avaplutya paśyāmi bahu-pādapam |

aśoka-vanikā-madhye śiṃśupā-pādapo mahān ||

tam āruhya ca paśyāmi kāñcanaṃ kadalī-vanam |

Translation

Nachdem ich jene Mauer überwunden hatte, erblickte ich einen Hain mit vielerlei Bäumen. Inmitten des Aśoka-Gartens stand ein mächtiger Śiṃśupā-Baum; als ich ihn bestieg, sah ich eine glänzende, gleichsam goldene Bananenpflanzung.
