Sita’s Recognition and Reassurance by the Envoy
कच्चिदाशास्ति देवानां प्रसादं पार्थिवात्मजः।कच्चित्पुरुषकारं च दैवं च प्रतिपद्यते।।।।
kaccid āśāsti devānāṃ prasādaṃ pārthivātmajaḥ | kaccit puruṣakāraṃ ca daivaṃ ca pratipadyate ||
Sucht der Prinz die Gunst der Götter, und hält er zugleich an menschlicher Anstrengung wie auch am Geschick fest, indem er beides im rechten Maß zusammenführt?
"Does the prince ever seek the blessings of gods or fall back upon personal effort as well as providence?
Balanced dharma: one should act with full personal effort (puruṣakāra) while remaining reverent toward divine order (daiva), without fatalism or arrogance.
Sītā, separated and uncertain, asks whether Rāma is sustaining himself through devotion and disciplined action as he prepares to rescue her.
