Sita’s Lament and Prophecy of Lanka’s Ruin
यदि नाम स शूरो मां रामो रक्तान्तलोचनः।जानीयाद्वर्तमानां हि रावणस्य निवेशने।।5.26.33।।अनेन तु नृशंसेन रावणेनाधमेन मे।समयो यस्तु निर्दिष्टस्तस्य कालोऽयमागतः।।5.26.34।।स च मे विहितो मृत्युरस्मिन् दुष्टे न वर्तते।
anena tu nṛśaṃsena rāvaṇenādhamena me |
samayo yastu nirdiṣṭas tasya kālo ’yam āgataḥ ||
sa ca me vihito mṛtyur asmin duṣṭe na vartate ||
Doch was diesen grausamen und niederträchtigen Rāvaṇa betrifft: Die Frist, die er mir gesetzt hat, ist nun gekommen. Und der Tod, den er mir bestimmt hat, wird nicht bei mir allein bleiben; er wird auf jenen Bösewicht zurückfallen.
"If the heroic Rama of bloodshot eyes comes to know that I am here at Ravana's, the expiry of time limit fixed by this cruel, lowly, foolish Ravana has arrived, this wicked fellow's death is inevitable.
Adharma carries its own punishment: coercion and cruelty may set terms for the innocent, but dharma ensures the wrongdoer ultimately becomes the bearer of the consequence.
Sītā reflects on the ultimatum Rāvaṇa has imposed and interprets the passing of that deadline as the moment when Rāvaṇa’s destruction becomes certain.
Sītā’s satya-niṣṭhā (steadfastness to truth) and moral clarity: even in despair she frames events through dharma and inevitable justice.
