Kaikeyi’s Demand and the Noose of the King’s Promise

तथा ह्यलर्कस्तेजस्वी ब्राह्मणे वेदपारगे।याचमाने स्वके नेत्रे उद्धृत्याविमना ददौ।।।।

tathā hy alarkas tejasvī brāhmaṇe vedapārage |

yācamāne svake netre uddhṛtya avimanā dadau ||

So auch der strahlende König Alarka: Als ein Brahmane, der die Veden durchdrungen hatte, darum bat, riss er sich die eigenen Augen aus und gab sie hin, ohne zu schwanken.
