भरतस्य प्रार्थना—रामस्य धर्मोपदेशः
Bharata’s Petition and Rama’s Dharma-Reasoning
वयमस्य यथा लोके सङ्ख्याता: सौम्य साधुभिः।भार्याः पुत्राश्च शिष्याश्च त्वमनुज्ञातुमर्हसि।।।।
vayam asya yathā loke saṅkhyātāḥ saumya sādhubhiḥ | bhāryāḥ putrāś ca śiṣyāś ca tvam anujñātum arhasi ||
O Sanftmütiger, gewähre, dass man uns in der Welt so ansehe, wie die Tugendhaften ihre Gattinnen, Söhne und Schüler ansehen: als solche, die unter rechter Führung leben.
O handsome one, you should treat us the way the virtuous treat their wives, sons and disciples in this world.
Ordered responsibility and consent: dharma functions through recognized roles (teacher–disciple, parent–child), and Rama asks Bharata to accept that structure rather than forcing outcomes by distress.
Rama continues counseling Bharata, asking that the family and dependents accept guidance in a disciplined, socially sanctioned manner.
Rama’s leadership through moral pedagogy—he instructs Bharata using analogies from righteous social practice.
